I saw on OS News that Greg KH posted a comment pointing out that the 2.6 Linux kernel does not suffer from a vulnerability that could allow exploits via the Hyperthreading found in P4 and similar chips. Good news for the penguins!

Have you checked out the …And I Quote: section? It’s got some pretty cool stuff ! =)

What is a breakbeat?

Do you listen to breaks? Drum & Bass? Jungle? Hip Hop? Trip Hop? Do you know what a breakbeat is? If you don’t, I suggest you check out the Sister DJ Glossary, this article by Philippe Renaud, or of course, the Wikipedia entry for breakbeat. More on breaks to come!

OnLamp has an excellent interview with OpenBSD developers, including Damien Bergamini and Marco Peereboom. They discuss the features of the new 3.7 Release as well as the integration (or lack thereof) of ProPolice into GCC.

While lurking in #ruby-lang on freenode, someone (chris2, actually) mentioned this article from www.joelonsoftware.com, about coding style. It’s a very interesting article which just might change the way you code! Definitely a must read.

Linux on the Mac Mini

Slashdot linked to a nice IBM article about installing linux on a mac mini. check it out here. I’m probably getting a powerbook… once I convince myself that more debt isn’t so bad. Hey it’s the American way after all, isn’t it?

Opie for the SL-C3000 is still very young, and buggy, and annoying. OpenBSD for the SL-C3000 is also very young. pdaXrom doesn’t even have a version for the SL-C3000 yet. So I decided “screw this” I’m going to use the english translation of the original Sharp ROM. How did I do it? With the help of this fine document at www.xlfag.com (All I needed to change was /mnt/cf to /mnt/card because I used an SD card instead of CF). I would hug the guy that wrote that… but instead I’ll just praise him here ;) Same thing right?

” May 02, 2005. Mrxvt version 0.4.1 is released! This release fix lots of bugs! No new features are introduced.” Check it out at materm.sourceforge.net

Finally a release for the SL-C3000! You can find out more at openzaurus.org In other news, the openbsd crew has a new screenshot available of OpenBSD running on an SL-C3000.

Update: It’s still really buggy. See (How To Restore Your SL-C3000)
