Found another tutorial for setting up virtual hosting of email with postfix. This one uses dovecot for the mail retrieval.

Remove IE?

Check this out! My good friend da weasel just put me on to this tool he read about on a call center tech mailing list. What is it? “nLite is a GUI for permanent Windows component removal by your choice. After removal there is an option to make bootable image ready for burning on cd or testing in virtual machines. With nLite you will be able to have Windows installation which on install doesn’t include, or even contain on cd, unwanted components.” Unwanted components can include IE, outlook express, and just about anything you don’t want! Crazy!

HP & Ubuntu?

In the market for a linux laptop? You might want to read this article about HP’s plans to sell laptops that come with FreeDOS and Ubuntu Linux. Can’t wait to see some reviews…

Open Zaurus 3.5.3 Review

It is mentioned in the docs, specifically that the patches for SD Card support in the 2.6 kernel are very close to being submitted. What does this mean? It means that since I flashed my 860 from the SD Card, and it’s now using the latest Open Zaurus 3.5.3 complete with 2.6 kernel and all the fixins… I can’t get all my data off of my SD Card, because the kernel doesn’t support it. I also have no CF Card [I'm broke. Did you click the google ads lately? Please do. Thanks =)] I’m pretty much stuck with my current setup. Wonderful.

But hey… usbnet seems to be working fine now, and zsh was available, even though it’s version 4.1.1 it’s better than nothing. I noticed some ruby stuff in there too, and even the Enlightenment Foundation Libraries (EFL) so that could mean lots of fun times in the future…

But for now I’m stuck I guess. I really need to invest in an SD Card reader… *sigh*

Did you know that your ssh server can recognize you without asking you for a password? this page is one of many I found with some good tips on how to get it working. I also found this page with tips for setting up OpenBSD.

Zsh Book Review On Slashdot

Slashdot has a review of From Bash To Z Shell. I haven’t had a chance to read the book myself, yet I can still tell you that zsh is nice! I have my (simple) .zshenv and .zshrc uploaded here, in case you want a little something to get started with. You can get the latest zsh (4.2.5 currently) at ftp.zsh.org

Below The Root

The other day this old game popped into my mind, called Below The Root. I used to play it on my Tandy 1000 EX. A quick google lead me to a review and a place to download the game! Luckily it runs great with dosemu =) I vow to finally solve this game! And I won’t cheat and use the solution either! :)

Zsh 4.2.5 Released

Peter Stephenson announced today that
“zsh version 4.2.5 is now available at ftp.zsh.org and Sourceforge. This fixes some configuration problems and few other minor bugs. I’m not aware of any incompatibilities that would be introduced by upgrading from 4.2.4.”

I just realized today that usbnet is broken in 2.6.11.6 when I tried to connect to my Zaurus 860. Some googling lead me to the kernel changelog in which it states that a fix for that “brokeness” went in on March 17, 2005. I tried using 2.6.12-rc2 and the usbnet does indeed work with that. Alsa seemed to not really work though, but it’s only rc2 so I’m sure they’ll get it ironed out. Anyway just a note to let you 860 users out there (*cough* weasel *cough*) know that it’s not your fault! ;)
