I just walked by this place called Garrett popcorn. If you ever wondered what popcorn would cost of 5th avenue, here you go: it’s $2.30 for a small buttered or plain and it’s $185.00 for a 6.5 gallon tin of caramel crisp w/ nuts. The 1 gallon tin of caramel crisp is only $40.
If you ever see me spend $40 on popcorn just ask me for money, as I will surely have won the lotto and will be giving away money freely! :)

The guys at Universal News on 14th and 5th are on it today! I was in there for about 30 seconds tops. They had my bagel and bowtie ready to go. Hassan and crew and doing it!

The guy sitting next to me on the train this morning was so awesome. He saw me in a state of total misery due to my allergies, and just before he got off the train he nudged me with his elbow and said ‘here - try this’ and gave me a halls menthol lozenge. It totally helps! I feel a million times better! Thanks guy! You rock!

Am I the only person in the world that finds it poetic that a gentle old man is asking the world for peace from inside a bullet/bomb proof mercedes benz?

Hot & Crusty was such a disappointment this morning. The people behind me in line got served before me, my bagel was burned, the coffee is bitter. The price is higher than ever. Hot & Crusty used to be a Tuesday treat for me. I could stop there at Grand Central Station and get a great bagel and coffee fast and cheap. Now it takes long, the staff is confused, the prices are high, the bagels are burned, the coffee is bitter. It’s so sad. I’m considering not returning.

Lord and Taylor’s has their post-holiday window displays done in chess style! Funny since I’ve been playing more chess lately :)

So I went to a diner… (a diner called “The Diner”). It’s obviously a diner so it’s pretty obvious that that they sell is… “diner food”, right? You know… pancakes, burgers, eggs, coffee - you know… it’s a diner. Someone walked in and asked the chef what kind of food they served. Hahaha how do you not know what a diner serves? *sigh* what is common sense?

I really am not so sure I like the idea of a company that has been doing so much to discredit linux and open source partnering with a linux company. Of course Novell isn’t strictly a linux company… But that doesn’t make me feel any better about it. The worst part is that the deal is about patents and other policital (for lack of the proper term) stuff.
I just wonder what’s coming next. Meanwhile I am listening to the openbsd audio cd and keeping my fingers crossed and my tinfoil hat near by.
oh wait…it’s aluminum foil…not tin…am I still safe?

oh and here’s a link to an article on arstechnica that tells you what I’m talking about ;)

As a New Yorker I take pride in knowing about the city I live in. I don’t know everything of course, and so from time to time I am stricken with this intense desire to figure something out about this great city of mine. The other day while walking around I noticed that the Empire State Building was blue and white, and that there were police everywhere. I joked with my friend that it was a signal that police were going to take over the city ;) It turns out that it was United Nations day and that blue and white is chosen to represent that (the flag is blue and white if you haven’t noticed). Where did I find that out? I’m glad you asked! Check out the official website of the empire state building and the tower light schedule. There’s also a page dedicated to the history of the tower lights, and a list of the meanings for all of the colors that are displayed throughout the year. I <3 NY! :)
